Offshore Fishing Hotter Than the Temperature!

The heat hasn't kept Capt. Larry's parties out of the water! Lately, they've been catching a massive amount of enormous firetruck red grouper, limit-plus catches of amberjack, mangrove and yellowtail snappers, porgies, large sharks, and even a kingfish this week!

To the right is a monster red grouper, caught by Justin Tsikererdanos from Kissimmee. This beast was caught offshore of Anna Maria Island in 130 ft using a sardine for bait. Capt. Larry's charters are even catching (and carefully releasing) multitudinous amounts of gag grouper and red snappers, without even targeting them- due to their season closure. Live and cut bait are both working great for the charters. Capt. Larry recommends going deep in this summer heat, and starting out in 125 ft to 150 ft for those big red grouper. It seems like they are always on fire in the late summer and it's probably the best time of the year to catch them.

Below is Harold Gaw from Lakeland, with his largest red grouper of his life. Harold caught the trophy using a pinfish in about 140 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. Harold and friends also caught more grouper and amberjack on their charter with Capt. Larry.

Tip of the week: Targeting those huge red grouper try drifting on some hard bottom I call Swiss cheese with a couple of different large live and dead baits then mark your spot when you hook one up and go back and anchor. You might just hit the mother load of these monsters and have a trip of a life time like Capt. Larry has been having. Always keep a flatline out for the pelagic species like kingfish, wahoo, blackfin tuna, and mahi mahi. This is shark week and we usually celebrate by catching a few big sharks. Safety tip always stay hydrated drinking lots of water and fluids, you will need it fighting all those fish this summer; Fish and be happy.

Thanks,
Capt. Larry McGuire

Fish Like You Mean It!

Seems like there's been an immense amount of Wahoo action going on while fishing with Capt. Larry. Here he is pictured below holding a Wahoo while on one of his charters. It's been an intense time out there, and Capt. Larry has been making the most of each moment he can get out on the water.Below is a very happy Patricia Acero from Palm Harbour, FL. She's holding a tasty treat of a gag grouper she caught and released while the party was catching red snapper and red grouper back to back. During the bedlam, Capt. Larry and his charter were fishing offshore in about 130 ft off Anna Maria Island.Sick of hearing about budget shortages?! Well, there's no shortage out here of gags! Below is Robert Alverez from Tampa, with a monster gag grouper he caught and carefully released, using a sardine in 155 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. Robert and party caught many more gags (all released), red groupers, mangrove snapper and tasty red snapper fishing during their trip of a lifetime.
Are you ready for your trip of a lifetime? Ready to come back off the gulf with some pictures to share with your friends & family, and possibly end up on this website showing off your great catch? Well, today is the day to schedule a charter to accomplish all of that and much more with up to 5 of your favorite fishing buddies or family... remember, an offshore fishing charter is the perfect time to bond, celebrate and catch something to be proud of!

Thanks,
Capt. Larry McGuire
